Day 1164: A day away from a new beginning.

It's a bit late.

I have just finished packing up a majority of my things. Later today, I plan on attending yoga, seeing a pal at her place and probably falling asleep by the pool, packing up the car, meeting my mom at her office for a company potluck, returning keys and books to their respective places, last minute packing, going out for dollar-half-pint night for a wee moment and then bed!

Crap. Somewhere in there, I need to book my hotels for the long drive to the beautiful state of Wisconsin.

Aside from this boring little housekeeping post, I should probably delve into my inner psyche and let you all know how I'm doing. I'm doing swell enough. My friend Bruce came to California and it was a ton of fun, gallavanting all over California and showing him the sights. (Pictures to follow in another post) I have hung out with a fair number of actual people I like (such a rarity for me) before my departure. Honest to blog, I'm just ready to go and start. I've known for ten months that this was coming and now that it's finally here, it feels just like that, finally. It's going to be gosh-awful, the stress, the newness of school, the stress, meeting new people, the stress, but it's going to awful in the best way humanly possible :)

See you in the midwest!

Day 1153: Prelude to insanity (the good kind)

In seven hours, I will be on my way to Los Angeles to see my friend Bruce, show him around southern California, see my lovely sister, go to Disneyland (for three craze-tastic days), go to San Diego, and other insanely busy, but fun, things.

Here we go.

Day 1148: Today I feel...

...unmotivated and somewhat overwhelmed. It's a funny combination.

The chaos that is my room (and probably my mind).

Day 1147: Forms. GALORE.

I have literally spent the past three (maybe four, maybe five) hours filling out, printing, re-printing, uploading (many unsuccessful attempts) and faxing forms for school.

Now I'm off to volunteer.

Day 1146: Three more weeks.

I had a fairly eventful weekend. I hung out and caught up with various people. It was good; I'm glad I got over my desire to stay in and be lazy and actually get out and socialize.

As my time in California winds down, I'm reaching a certain point where I'm ready to go. I have had a wonderful nine months to acclimate myself to the idea of going to med school and I'm just ready to do it. I expect it to be a big change from my life of lolly-/lallygagging, but it's going to be great.

I don't know if I've ever actually said this, but I am so grateful for the next phase of my life. Getting in to med school was an arduous and draining affair and I feel so lucky to have earned a place in the incoming class of 2015. I think what I am especially grateful for, is you. You (oh darling one-out-of-five readers) have supported me through all of this and still think I'm going to make a great doctor. I feel so lucky to spend my last weeks in California being surrounded by people that are proud of me and enrich my life on a daily basis.

Man! Who knew leaving for grad school would make me so emotional? Bleck. Pass.

Day 1143: Celebrations

Hi all! How were your American celebrations? Do anything of note?

Well! Thank you for asking, my Fourth of July weekend was actually quite fun. There were barbecues and soccer games and fireworks and good bonding time with friends and family. I mean, how else are we to celebrate America's independence?

Aside from that, I have to get some more forms ready for school. Government stuff. Very hush-hush. I'm probably blowing my cover by telling you this much.

No bed purchase this weekend :( There was actually little to no shopping this weekend. And hello people. I NEED A BED.
